Brian Farrance named Adjunct Professor at UNBC Medical School

Congratulations to Brian Farrance who has been named Adjunct Professor in the UNBC Medical School where he will be teaching Orthopaedic Assessment. He has been teaching for the past 8 years but has now received the title of Adjunct Professor.

28th Winter FISU Games in Almaty, Kazakhstan

Thank-you to our CATA members that where selected to partake in the 28th Winter FISU Games in Almaty, Kazakhstan from 29-January – 08-February, 2017.

The FISU Winter Games was a great success with 88 student-athletes showing the colors of red and white, representing 8 Provinces and 1 Territory in various sports; alpine skiing, biathlon, cross country skiing, curling (men & women), hockey (men & women) and snowboarding. In total, the 28th Winter Universiade in Almaty, Kazakhstan, had 2,481 participants from a new record number of 57 countries were accredited. The students represented a total of 545 universities worldwide and over 1,600 athletes from 57 countries which were gathered in the Central Asian city of 1.7 million.

Canada finished in 13th place overall, with a medal count in each color; Gold in Women's Curling, Silver in Women's Hockey and Bronze in Men's Hockey. We would also like to include honorable mentions to all the other athletes who achieved their personal best, a list too long to mention.

Thank you to the athletes, family, friends, FISU and most importantly USport and the Mission Staff in making these Games a successful one. Almaty you where a great host and you have left memories that will last a lifetime.
